OAaSIS — Operate, Advance and Serve In Skills

“networking for the development of youth and other artists”

_______________________________________________________________________

All work together as a team strictly for the development and advancement of Jamaica(ns) and the world through its creative force.

Founded 2008 by Anthea McGibbon, OAaSIS was birthed from an impregnated vision. This includes seeing Jamaicans more connected with their uniqueness, culture and skills; seeing Jamaican children more connected with their potential, and how they can become better; enabling others to understand how they accomplish more being connected with their creative side.

Founder, Anthea McGibbon, an artist for over 20 years was born into a family of educators, technicians, lawyers, musicians and highly skilled persons.
“I cant think of anyone in my family who is not exceptionally skilled at something, and most if not all my uncles and aunts are trained educators to say the least”
This along with the fact that she herself has much experience in a wide variety of fields has influenced her many-year involvement in the lives of children in one way or another.

Anthea is accustomed to starting art clubs, especially, and teaching skills in art, maths, English, Spanish. Her first hand experience with children at all ages was by her mother and aunts who at one time or another being educators, founded schools for varying age groups.
Her birth church “The Apostolic Church Of Jamaica”, also gave her much trained experience which she employed at other churches in addition to communities and schools she’s worked with.

For now, Anthea’s mission is not to thrive on past events, but to assist in building foundations upon which other persons can assist in the development of the creative mind of today’s youth and artists, starting with Jamaica. Her qualifications are succinctly listed on her website

OAaSIS is her way of acknowledging the input of other foundations such as Issa Foundation, UN, Unesco and doing her part to realize the creative potential of youth and artists, most times overlooked especially within Jamaica.

In no way OAaSIS International replaces any existing institution or art classes or teachers for that matter. Members however strive to be an extension of the above by providing services not previously offered, and utilise opportunities towards  improving and strengthening existing services where needed.

OAaSIS does this by creating a niche for artistes, and volunteers in all fields alike, with emphasis on the CREATIVE FORCE, to participate in a variety of projects in achieving common objectives.

Staff, workers, volunteers and consultants are pooled from a variety of fields including but not confined to varied arts, writers, technical, teachers, computer experts, accountants, tax, clergy, business, legal. For the purposes of making Jamaica’s youth more aware of the varied art expressions and career fields, while sensitizing them to the maximum benefits that can be achieved.

The team serves through its creative mecca businesses tourists, organizations, communities, schools, government ministries.

At present volunteers are not paid, but are compensated with services of equal value. We hope to obtain sponsorship in the future to offer payment in full, a stipend or promotion. Otherwise as arranged per contract.

The creative people should be among the leaders of any country, as they are the ones who see beyond the surface, interpret for others so that they too can understand and relate to the realities”Rex Nettleford, in a 2007 interview with Anthea McGibbon
